What Is the Kaged Pre-Workout Powder Supplement?

Pre-Kaged pre-workout is a dietary supplement marketed as a vegan- and vegetarian-friendly product. According to its manufacturer, its consistent use will result in significant gains in exercise performance. These gains include the ability to lift heavier, pump longer and maintain mental focus, thanks to increased physical energy and endurance.

The recommended dosage for the Kaged pre-workout supplement is once a day. Yes, it can be taken on a daily basis, which will allow its active ingredients to be more effective over time.

But it may also be necessary to determine your tolerance, particularly as it contains caffeine equivalent to 3-4 cups of brewed coffee. Start with just a half-scoop mixed with 16-20 ounces of cold water, then gradually build up your tolerance to the full one-scoop dosage over 1-2 weeks.

The Pre-Kaged pre-workout drink should be taken about 30 minutes before your exercise session begins or in the morning on your non-training days. Avoid drinking it before bedtime, about four hours before you hit the sack, as its high caffeine content can disrupt your normal sleep patterns.

Tip: Shake the drink lightly between each sip since the powder can settle at the bottom. Adjust the amount of water, too, according to your preferred intensity of flavor.

What Makes Kaged Pre-Workout Powder a Good Pre-Workout Supplement?

When reviewing pre-workout supplements, we first consider their ingredients since their formulation determines their overall safety and efficacy. While there’s a wide range of active ingredients in pre-workouts, we consider three ingredients as must-haves because of their proven effectiveness in enhanced exercise performance. These three ingredients and their clinically effective doses on a per-serving basis are  L-citrulline (6-10 grams), beta-alanine (2-5 grams), and caffeine (250-350 milligrams).

Pre-workouts that lack one of these ingredients or have all these ingredients but aren’t in the range of clinically effective doses are less effective, in our opinion. The synergy between these three ingredients means greater efficacy in increasing physical energy, mental attention and alertness, and even mood during intense workouts and everyday activities. Other beneficial ingredients are a bonus, but these three ingredients must be present.

Here’s what we found when we looked at the ingredients list of Kaged pre-workout. (Amounts in grams or milligrams are for every scoop or serving)

  • L-citrulline (6.5 grams)

Strength athletes (e.g., bodybuilders and weightlifters) and endurance athletes (e.g., runners and cyclists) agree that L-citrulline in Pre-Kaged pre-workout boosts their muscle strength, stamina and power performance. Fitness enthusiasts also benefit from L-citrulline supplementation because, like professional athletes, it aids in faster recovery and a better post-workout look.

These benefits come from L-citrulline’s action as a precursor to L-arginine, an amino acid that aids in nitric oxide production and, thus, in widening blood vessels. With wider blood vessels comes improved blood flow that, in turn, means an increased flow of oxygen and nutrients to the body’s cells, including its muscles and tissues. The result: More muscle strength, stamina and pump that translates to longer weight and cardio training.

L-citrulline supplementation can also support mental function by supporting improved blood flow to the brain. Mental clarity and calmness are just as crucial in exercise performance as physical energy and endurance!

At 6.5 grams of L-citrulline, Pre-Kaged exceeds the clinically effective dosage for the amino acid by a small amount. This means it’s an effective pre-workout in this aspect.

  • Beta-alanine (1.6 grams)

But when it comes to beta-alanine, Pre-Kaged pre-workout falls slightly below the minimum clinically effective dosage (2 grams). This isn’t to say that Pre-Kaged pre-workout is less effective since it has other active ingredients that take up the slack, such as L-citrulline and caffeine.

Besides, the inclusion of beta-alanine in Pre-Kaged pre-workout means that Kaged recognizes its value – and, indeed, what value beta-alanine brings to the table! Beta-alanine, which is included in the patented CarnoSyn version, increases carnosine concentrations in muscles.

Carnosine, a peptide and potent antioxidant, aids in delaying the accumulation of hydrogen ions in muscles during high-intensity workouts. Otherwise, a rise in hydrogen ions will decrease pH levels in muscle cells that, in turn, speed up muscle fatigue. In other words, an increase in carnosine levels in your muscles will delay feelings of fatigue and, thus, allow for longer exercise periods.

There may be a benefit to the 1.6-gram beta-alanine content in Pre-Kaged pre-workout – you may be less likely to feel itching and tingling sensations on your skin, particularly if you aren’t used to it. But even if you experience this side effect, it will resolve on its own the more you consume the Pre-Kaged supplement.

  • Caffeine (274 milligrams)

Caffeine is a staple ingredient in the best pre-workouts because of its potent stimulant effect, particularly boosting mental alertness and attention. Note that every serving of Pre-Kaged pre-workout is equivalent to drinking nearly three cups of brewed coffee, and, thus, individuals with low caffeine tolerance must take it with caution.

In the Pre-Kaged pre-workout, the caffeine used comes from organic green coffee beans, a bonus considering that many inferior pre-workouts have caffeine from synthetic sources. Organic caffeine can sharpen focus, which, in turn, boosts your reaction time and your ability to push through rigorous exercises.

Caffeine also has fat-burning properties that aid in getting your body leaner (i.e., more sculpted and toned). This is due to its thermogenic properties, which speed up your metabolism.

From the abovementioned discussion, we can conclude early on that Pre-Kaged pre-workout is an effective supplement! Most users report a significant increase in their physical and mental performance with consistent use over time. Said performance even extends to non-training days, although the caffeine boost may mean little to no consumption of coffee and other caffeine-infused products.

Other active ingredients in Pre-Kaged pre-workout that enhance the exercise- and health-related benefits of this trifecta of ingredients are:

  • BCAAs (6.5 grams) in the pre-workout are from plant-based sources, and these amino acids decrease muscle fatigue, damage and soreness, promote the muscle-building process, and provide extra energy during extended workouts.
  • Creatine hydrochloride (1.5 grams) is easier to absorb by the body than creatine and limits water retention (i.e., less bloating than with creatine). Supplementation with creatine supports muscle stamina, allowing for increased reps performed and, thus, significant improvements in lean muscle mass.
  • Spectra (100 milligrams) is a proprietary blend of 29 fruit and vegetable extracts with powerful antioxidant properties. Its inclusion supports immunity and metabolism. Both are crucial not just during intense workouts but also in maintaining good health every day.
  • Taurine (2 grams) supports efficient muscle contractions, provides extra energy, and supports electrolyte balance, which boosts athletic performance.
  • Tyrosine (50 milligrams) enhances mental performance and motivation, particularly during stressful situations like rigorous exercises.

Aside from the physical and mental benefits, consistent use of Pre-Kaged pre-workout can stimulate euphoric feelings after ingestion, too.

Other pros we’ve seen with Pre-Kaged pre-workout are its third-party tested aspect, including its being free from banned substances, artificial sources, and gluten. This can also be safely stacked with other Kaged fitness supplements, such as In-Kaged and Re-Kaged, the so-called PIP stack.

Who Is Kaged Pre-Workout Powder Supplement Pre-Workout For?

Kaged pre-workout is formulated for men and women who take their health, fitness and exercise performance seriously. Note that it’s best used for weight training, although it can also be used for cardio training. (Kaged recommends Pre-Kaged Sport for cardio and sports activities)

Aside from the usual pregnant and lactating mothers, minors and individuals with underlying medical conditions, the Pre-Kaged supplement isn’t recommended for beginners and for individuals who work out in the late afternoon or evening. The high caffeine level can cause side effects, such as jitters and sleep difficulties in susceptible persons.

What Are The Best Flavors of Kaged Pre-Workout Powder Supplement?

The Pre-Kaged supplement is available in Grape, Cherry Bomb, Krisp Apple, Fruit Punch, Pink Lemonade, Berry Blast, and Orange Krush. Each flavor has its unique flavor profile to suit your personal preference. We must say, too, that these flavors aren’t too sweet, but you can adjust the sweetness level by adding more water.

Conclusion

The Pre-Kaged pre-workout delivers solid results, thanks to the just-right formulation of its active ingredients. The trifecta of ingredients we’re looking for is present, meaning it delivers on the promises of increased physical energy, muscle power and stamina, and mental focus.

But its price point is higher for pre-workouts, a turnoff if you’re looking for budget-friendly fitness supplements. You must decide whether the extra dollars are worth the extra ingredients.
